Academic World Quest is the flagship youth educational program of the national network of World Affairs Councils. It is a competition, sponsored by the WAC of Greater Reading, in which all local high schools can participate. World Quest subjects change each year but might include: International Affairs, History, Geography, Culture as well as Current Events. There are 10 areas of knowledge with 10 questions in each area for a total of 100 questions.
Winners travel to Washington, D.C. to compete against over 40 other local World Affairs chapters from across the United States. It is a weekend of competition, networking and visiting Embassies.
The 2018-19 World Quest winner was the team from Oley Valley High School. The next World Quest competition will be held on March 10, 2020, with a snow date of Thursday, March 12. The event will begin at 9am in the Beaver Community Center, Penn State University – Berks and will run until 2pm.
