Facing Inhumanity: A Look at International Humanitarian Law
Following a brief summary of the major landmarks and personalities involved in the development of international humanitarian law, this virtual presentation will review the major texts defining genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and crimes of aggression as they appear in international law. Dr. Fegley will be referring to how various cases fit into these legal frameworks, including Armenia, the Holocaust, Rwanda, Bosnia and the current situation in Israel/Palestine. Finally, he will look at possible additions to the legal canons of world courts.
In 2021, Randall Fegley Ph.D. retired after 35 years as Associate Professor of History and Politics at Penn State Berks College. The author of 11 books and numerous articles on global issues, he continues his research on local responses to mass trauma.
